Durrow Cross, County Offaly, Ireland
There has been a theory, never proven, that the crosses would have been painted. However, no paint has ever been found on any of the crosses.
In these colored pencil paintings, using Westropp’s line drawings as a coloring book, I have tried to suggest what the painted crosses may have looked like. As much as possible I used colors that were used in the Book of Durrow. In each coloring I have tried different sets of colors. For additional information on the cross see Offaly Crosses.
